KSG and Positive Carbon work in harmony to measure and record food waste.

In Ireland, it is estimated that we waste over 1 million tonnes of food each year. The food service sector is responsible for approximately 250,000 tonnes of this food waste resulting in 875,000 tonnes of CO2. On a global scale, it is estimated that one-third of all food produced is wasted, which contributes to 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

At KSG, we recognise the impact of these statistics on the environment and on the food industry, so we have launched a partnership with Positive Carbon, an innovative Irish start-up that was founded in 2020 to tackle to problem of food waste.

Using an integrated A.I. system that is installed above our food waste bins, Positive Carbon’s technology allows us to track and measure the food wasted in 10 KSG sites across Ireland. Our aim is to use these insights to significantly reduce the amount of food wasted across the business.
